Mount Washington Summit Wedding: Danielle + Tom’s October Elopement
Some weddings are beautiful. Others are truly unforgettable. Danielle and Tom’s Mount Washington summit wedding was the kind of celebration that reminds me exactly why I do what I do — this is the dream.
The Vision: A Summit Wedding Above the Clouds
When Danielle and Tom reached out, they already knew they didn’t want a traditional venue. They wanted something real— something wild, windswept, and unforgettable. Their vision? A private, deeply meaningful ceremony atop New England’s tallest peak, surrounded by the raw beauty of the White Mountains and a few of their closest loved ones.
As a New Hampshire elopement photographer who lives for mountain light and adventurous couples, this was the kind of inquiry that had me absolutely buzzing.
Getting Ready at the Top of the World
While the couple and a close friend hiked up the mountain early that day, we made our way up the Mount Washington Auto Road, giving me a chance to arrive fresh and ready — with camera gear in tow — to document every detail without missing a beat.
We met inside the Mount Washington Observatory visitor center, where Danielle and Tom got ready in the basement, tucked away from the crowds. Once they were dressed, we made our way to a quieter spot just off the summit, along the Jewell Trail, for their emotional first look.
Despite being a busy October day on the mountain, we found peaceful pockets where they could soak it all in — just the two of them, looking out over the valleys in their wedding best.
Family, Friends, and a Scenic Ceremony Off the Auto Road
Soon after, their guests arrived via the Mount Washington Cog Railway — hugs, happy tears, and mountaintop reunions all around. With everyone gathered, we made our way to a scenic pull-off along the Auto Road for their ceremony.
Officiated by the incredible Mike Cherim of Redline Guiding, their ceremony was heartfelt, personal, and deeply rooted in their love for nature and adventure. With the wind gently moving through the alpine grass and the Presidential Range stretching out behind them, they said their vows with the mountains as their witness.
A Mountaintop Celebration to Remember
After portraits with their loved ones, we made our way back to the summit so everyone could catch the last train of the day. In true White Mountains elopement fashion, the weather held, the light was golden, and the entire afternoon felt like a dream — the kind you never want to wake from.
Why I’ll Never Forget This Wedding
Summit weddings like this are my heart’s work. I adore the cozy Airbnb and forest weddings too, but if I could photograph mountaintop love stories like this every week, I’d be the happiest photographer alive. Danielle and Tom’s elopement had everything — epic scenery, deep connection, and just the right mix of adventure and intimacy.
If you’re planning a Mount Washington wedding, a White Mountains elopement, or any kind of adventure wedding in New England, I’d love to be a part of your story. Let’s climb high and make something beautiful together.
